\u00abLa gente nos demanda m\u00e1s humildad, nos demanda un proyecto en serio, nos demanda que la pol\u00edtica no sea un lugar oscuro donde es dif\u00edcil encontrar grandeza y generosidad, sino un lugar transformador, donde se puede cambiar la realidad. No son cambios f\u00e1ciles para la pol\u00edtica ni para la sociedad. No hay una sino muchas grietas construidas desde la desconfianza en el otro y desde la comodidad que otorga el prejuicio: es mucho m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil hacer pol\u00edtica si hay buenos y malos. Corruptos y honestos. Neoliberales y populistas. Ricos y pobres. Indiferentes y sensibles. Esta actitud nos trajo hasta ac\u00e1 y nos hace volver una y otra vez al mismo lugar. Yo creo que es mejor tomar otro camino, m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil, m\u00e1s largo, menos popular: el camino de tratar de entender al otro, de escuchar en serio en lugar de dar una respuesta autom\u00e1tica, de querer que la sociedad elija por convicci\u00f3n, no porque el otro es malo, sino porque nosotros somos mejores, aun cuando eso suponga un riesgo. Neoliberals and populists. Rich and poor. Indifferent and sensitive. This attitude brought us here and makes us return again and again to the same place. I believe that it is better to take another path, more difficult, longer, less popular: the path of trying to understand the other, of listening seriously instead of giving an automatic response, of wanting society to choose out of conviction, not because the other is bad, but because we are better, even when that involves a risk.
