\nEn plena Guerra Civil espa\u00f1ola, el joven m\u00e9dico V\u00edctor Dalmau, junto a su amiga pianista Roser Bruguera, se ven obligados a abandonar Barcelona, exiliarse y cruzar los Pirineos rumbo a Francia. A bordo del Winnipeg, un nav\u00edo fletado por el poeta Pablo Neruda que llev\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de dos mil espa\u00f1oles rumbo a Valpara\u00edso, embarcar\u00e1n en busca de la paz y la libertad que no tuvieron en su pa\u00eds. Recibidos como h\u00e9roes en Chile -ese \u00ablargo p\u00e9talo de mar y nieve\u00bb, en palabras del poeta chileno-, se integrar\u00e1n en la vida social del pa\u00eds durante varias d\u00e9cadas hasta el golpe de Estado que derroc\u00f3 al doctor Salvador Allende, amigo de Victor por su com\u00fan afici\u00f3n al ajedrez. V\u00edctor y Roser se encontrar\u00e1n nuevamente desarraigados, pero como dice la autora: \u00absi uno vive lo suficiente, todos los c\u00edrculos se cierran\u00bb. Synopsis:
\n<\/strong>In the midst of the Spanish Civil War, the young doctor V\u00edctor Dalmau, together with his pianist friend Roser Bruguera, are forced to leave Barcelona, go into exile and cross the Pyrenees to France. On board the Winnipeg, a ship chartered by the poet Pablo Neruda that took more than two thousand Spaniards to Valparaiso, they embark in search of the peace and freedom they did not have in their country. Received as heroes in Chile -that “long petal of sea and snow”, in the words of the Chilean poet-, they will be integrated into the social life of the country for several decades until the coup d’\u00e9tat that overthrew Dr. Salvador Allende, Victor’s friend because of their common love of chess. Victor and Roser will find themselves uprooted again, but as the author says: “if one lives long enough, all circles close”.
