When his mother falls ill, fifteen-year-old Alexander Cold is sent to join his brave and stern grandmother, a journalist for International Geographic magazine, on an expedition to the dangerous and remote world of the Amazon. His mission, along with the others on his team, including a celebrated anthropologist; a local guide and his young daughter Nadia; and a doctor, is to document the legendary Yeti of the Amazon, known as the Beast.<\/p>\n

Under the dense foliage of the jungle trees, Alexander is surprised to discover much more than he could have imagined about the hidden worlds of the rainforest and about the nature of humans.
