Por eso; cuando un exdirigente del Gobierno cubano aparece asesinado y mutilado en su departamento; la polic\u00eda; desbordada por la visita presidencial; recurre a Mario Conde para que les d\u00e9 una mano. Conde recordar\u00e1 que el muerto; un hombre d\u00e9spota y cruel; hab\u00eda ejercido en el pasado de censor y extorsionado a los artistas para que no se desviaran de las consignas de la Revoluci\u00f3n. Cuando unos d\u00edas despu\u00e9s se encuentre un segundo cad\u00e1ver asesinado en parecidas circunstancias; sonar\u00e1n todas las alarmas. Paralela a esa trama; se suma una historia situada un siglo antes; cuando La Habana era la Niza del Caribe y se viv\u00eda desenfrenadamente bajo la amenaza del cometa Halley. Para sorpresa de Mario Conde; presente y pasado tendr\u00e1n unos v\u00ednculos insospechados.

Several historical events are going to shake Cuba and turn upside down the rhythm of the island: the visit of Barack Obama in what has been called the “Cuban Thaw”; a Rolling Stones concert and a Chanel fashion show. So when a former Cuban government leader is found murdered and mutilated in his apartment, the police, overwhelmed by the presidential visit, turn to Mario Conde to give them a hand. Conde will remember that the dead man, a despot and cruel man, had in the past acted as a censor and extorted artists so that they would not deviate from the slogans of the Revolution. When a few days later a second corpse is found murdered in similar circumstances, all the alarms will sound. Parallel to this plot, there is a story set a century before, when Havana was the Nice of the Caribbean and lived wildly under the threat of Halley’s comet.
